Another pdf issue. I choose my accessibility option and all I get after the document is processed is something that sounds like
:./[!/>&?3=$^?,]\_?$&<<?)~@%^$! so on and so forth no matter which reading order its on. Any helpful info?
Can you get a visual verification of what is in the pdf file?
This could really just be some sort of an image file with no real characters.
Have you run an accessibility check on it (from the tools menu, accessibility, I think)?
If it is an image your only bet is either an OCR software like Kurzweil/Openbook or one of the online pdf to text convertion services, there are a few.
Try sending it as an attachment to convert@robobraille.org. Enter the format in which you'd like the file i.e. doc, txt, rtf etc. in the subject line without any punctuation. If you'd prefer it in braille or mp3, they can do that as well. For full instructions, go to
http://www.robobraille.org
They explain how to do the regular conversions to audio and braille, and on their accessibility page you'll find the explanation of how to convert to written formats. Note that they can handle completely visual files such as jpg, bmp, gif, tif etc. but they must have some text in them or there won't be anything to extract. This is a completely free service and is automated.
Thanks that's an awesome service!
